Mary E. Gilder

Mary was born and raised in beautiful San Diego, California. However, she shares that her spirit is most deeply connected to Northern, California, particularly Sausalito. Mary is a proud graduate of Samuel Morse High School and went on to earn a masters degree from San Diego State University (SDSU).

She has spent the majority of her adult life as a frontline warrior, serving as a Licensed Psychotherapist and as a Commissioner. In addition to her clinical work, Mary is also a speaker, mentor, producer and advocate for human rights.

Mary states that she is most proud of maintaining compliance with her earthly assignment, which is fulfilled by inspiring the minds of those who embrace her literature. 

Mary, is the author of literary fiction and nonfiction, celebrated for creating stories that empower and transcend. She has successfully completed three powerful books: A Misrepresentation of Myself (2009), Even a Man Can Have a Broken Heart (2014), and Lilbit (2025). Her work has been featured in Redbook Magazine, and she was recognized by Harpo producer Jessica Dres as a woman of inspiration. Her second release, Even a Man Can Have a Broken Heart, has been adapted into a Documentary set for release in 2026.

A frequent visitor to Sausalito, where her literary passion is ignited, Mary currently resides in Texas with her family.
